What was the Client Requirement?
Sewer Treatment upgrades have become a focus of national attention in recent years, with discharge rates being a regular item in media headlines. Climate change is also influencing the country’s weather, with rainfall becoming increasingly unpredictable and intense. Due to these factors, there are many upgrades being commissioned for water treatment works in the UK. As part of UU’s Sewer upgrades, Apogee was instructed on a site around Newbiggin Wastewater Treatment Works, which is being upgraded to treat higher volumes of water and to improve the water quality in Morecambe Bay. Water Records were not requested in this case as they were already owned by the undertakers of the project.
What was the Apogee Solution?
Apogee provided the client with a Full Utility Report (not including water and sewerage) detailing the site’s utility situation, with multiple affected utilities highlighted as relevant to the site. The Report was delivered on time, 100% complete and contained data on the treatment plant itself and the sewer pipe to be upgraded, which ran over 5km long from Barrow-in-Furness to Newbiggin.
What was the result of the report?
The Report found that there were several affected utilities within the area sewer and plant, in particular there were large distribution and transmission pipes for Natural Gas crossing the site from the Rampside Gas Terminal just south of the plant.
There was also a significant amount of electrical plant in and around the site. There were lesser amounts of other utilities, including usual BT Cables and an IDNO, as well as Vodafone cables.
Why was the client delighted?
The Reports were delivered on time, 100% complete and without any delays, and provided the client with exactly the data they wanted in Apogee’s usual PDF format, along with individual affected plans for easy use and access.
