Apogee Utility Consultants - Apogee can help your projects navigate Planning Process Changes, New Costs & Green Strategy

What’s happening in the planning space?
With the election of a Labour government the planning environment is set to become more costly (With the cost of a planning application set to double), and despite the new government’s focus on making it easier for development applications to be approved the immediate future for development is anything but plain sailing. With more ambitious net zero targets come utility complexity and accelerating change, and far more potential for delays due to missteps in design.

These things mean that the value and potential savings from proper utility discovery have increased considerably. Tighter margins and higher borrowing costs mean there is less room available to make mistakes or incur delays, and of course the ever-present risk of strikes or accidents must be managed for any new building activity. We still have to await some more detail from the government on exactly what the planning changes look like, but we have enough to get an idea of its principles.

How can Apogee help?
Colin Marrs from Construction News concludes that: “Financial viability is a much bigger issue than planning in holding back development – you can open the planning door but you can’t make homebuilders and developers walk through it unless the numbers add up.”
Apogee bring decades of experience in handling utility conflict together with highly trained and qualified staff and a market-leading pricing methodology and an easy-to-use online ordering platform to deliver what we call “Apogee Intelligence”. This intelligence means we can provide the best advice for your projects, exploring your options for getting connected and giving you visibility on the timescales and costs from pre-planning and designing stages right through to project completion.

Our extensive network of contacts and familiarity with the relevant statutes and guidelines such as HSG47, PAS128, or the CDM Regulations 2015 mean we can provide your projects with a pathway to planning completion with regards to utilities, all while saving money and reducing the likelihood of delays or accidents. With staff accreditation to Proqual Level 5 Standard, and an MD who helped the British Standards Institute write PAS128 as well as advising the Health & Safety Executive on the content of HSG 47, Apogee are better placed than anyone else to clear utility obstacles that may hamper your projects.
